Knightmare parody of 'Days Are Numbers (The Traveller)' by The Alan Parsons Project

The line "Abandoning reality, unsure of what he'll find / The traveller in me is close behind" reminded me of all the young Knightmare viewers glued to their TV screens while the dungeoneers ventured into a perilous world of illusion. :) The chorus was inspired by Duncan's death in Series 5, when he tried to reach Level 2 via the Descender (a magical, voice-activated lift). The team were supposed to count the floors and tell the device when to stop, but messed it up and sent him to the wrong place – namely the Corridor of Blades, which immediately sawed him in half!

Parody lyrics

The dungeoneer must walk onward and down
He never is allowed to turn around
And if the path he's chosen isn't leading anywhere
His team will be completely unaware

The dungeoneer's a long way from his home
In danger of a kind he's never known
Where every sidestep seems to be a pace towards defeat
There's always one more monster left to beat

Days are numbered
Watch those saws
He can only see blue floor
Some say... you won't get too far

Remember
Days are numbered
Count those floors
He should only go down four
Wrong way... you won't get too far

The dungeoneer obeys the warning cry
He doesn't know what all the others spy
But someone screaming in his ear keeps telling him to run
He isn't told the reason, but it's done

The dungeoneer is gladly facing doom
He cannot have adventures in his room
Abandoning reality, unsure of what he'll find
The dungeoneer in me is close behind

Days are numbered
Watch those saws
He can only see blue floor
Some say... you won't get too far

Remember
Days are numbered
Count those floors
He should only go down four
Wrong way... you won't get too far

Remember
Days are numbered
Watch those saws
He can only see blue floor
Some say... you won't get too far

Original lyricsaudio

The traveller is always leaving town
He never has the time to turn around
And if the road he's taken isn't leading anywhere
He seems to be completely unaware

The traveller is always leaving home
The only kind of life he's ever known
When every moment seems to be a race against the time
There's always one more mountain left to climb

Days are numbers
Watch the stars
We can only see so far
Someday... you'll know where you are

Remember
Days are numbers
Count the stars
We can only go so far
One day... you'll know where you are

The traveller awaits the morning tide
He doesn't know what's on the other side
But something deep inside of him keeps telling him to go
He hasn't found a reason to say no

The traveller is only passing through
He cannot understand your point of view
Abandoning reality, unsure of what he'll find
The traveller in me is close behind

Days are numbers
Watch the stars
We can only see so far
Someday... you'll know where you are

Remember
Days are numbers
Count the stars
We can only go so far
One day... you'll know where you are

Remember
Days are numbers
Watch the stars
We can only see so far
Someday... you'll know where you are
